To the Editor:
I have known Jonas Budris [Jonas Budris is on his way making beautiful music, January 17] since his dad, John, and I met fishing at Gay Head. John came up the beach with rod in one hand and Jonas packed on his chest in a baby harness. John and I caught bluefish that day, and I remember helping out by holding the baby while John unhooked a critter.
I have followed Jonas’s career as both my good friend’s son, an outstanding student, and a musical virtuoso. My family has attended his singing and acting engagements for years. When his grandfather died in Brockton, Jonas sang at the funeral. It took one’s breath away.
He has grown to become a fine man. He has brought great honor and joy to his mother, Danguole, and John. An Island treasure for sure.
