West Tisbury Morning
Initial sign a streak of light,
bright variation in a slate gray sky,
a tear in the night’s curtain.
Then a scarlet line,
first thin, now broader,
becoming a palette with a study in reds…
Enough light now to give definition
to the features of the day –
the sky with a horizon billowing with clouds,
the earth, though gray with the bare trees of winter,
green with pines and golden with grasses.
After forty years of working with technology, and nearly thirty of those living part time in West Tisbury, Cynthia Bloomquist now resides there full time following guidance from her muse.
