State Representative Timothy R. Madden Wednesday announced that Kaylea Moore of West Tisbury has been appointed the new legislative liaison to Martha’s Vineyard.

She replaces Nell Coogan of Vineyard Haven who has accepted a position as Director of Development and Community Relations for Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, according to a press release.

“While we are sad to see Nell go, we are also excited that she is moving on to a great human services organization that will benefit greatly from her experience, education, and abilities, not to mention her love for this island and its people,” Representative Madden said.

“At the same time, we are very excited about Ms. Kaylea Moore who, like Nell, grew up on the Island and is very invested in the community already. Kaylea will be a great complement to our office and we look forward to working with her as she continues to build relationships with Island officials and local agencies, as well as advocating for and giving a voice to our constituents on the Island and in Boston.”

The liaison position is unique to the Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket legislative district, created when the two islands’ legislative seats were eliminated through redistricting. The $34,000 per year job is considered part-time.
