Tisbury School sixth-grader David Krauthamer claimed victory in the recent Tisbury School National Geographic Society Geography Bee competition.

David correctly answered Sacramento when asked, "What U.S. capital city was the western terminus for both the Pony Express and the first trans-continental railroad?"

David won the championship round over seventh grader Dillon McAndrews. Finalists and classroom winners included fifth-graders Danielle Middleton and Olivia Pouliot, sixth-grader Reinaldo Dos Santos, seventh-grader Gabe Nadelstein, and eighth-grader Andrei Bernier. Eighth-grader Anthony Jackson won in the classroom division, but was unable to participate in the school finals.

David now advances to the next level of competition — a written examination to determine statewide competitors.
