A large, enthusiastic crowd gathered around the cozy fireplace at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club on a chilly Saturday night for the annual Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls hockey auction.

The event, organized by the M.V. Girls Hockey Boosters (MVGHB), raised nearly $13,000 for the team, through silent and live auctions, and donations.

The festive evening began with a silent auction and cocktail hour, with a tasty sampling of hors d’ oeuvres. MVGHB president Jeanne Ogden and girls head coach John Fiorito then briefly addressed the crowd, prior to introducing the girls team, who received a rousing ovation.

The event concluded with a live auction. Jack Law served as the auctioneer and enticed the crowd with items that included a signed Milan Lucic Bruins jersey; Patriots and Celtics ticket packages; and breakfast for two for a year at the Plane View Restaurant.

Ms. Ogden wished to thank the parents and coaches and gave special thanks to Tony and Erika Bettencourt and Jill and Bobby Jackson for their continued generosity to the club.

M.V. Girls Hockey also is raffling off a signed Larry Bird Boston Celtics jersey, which was on display throughout the auction. To purchase raffle tickets, visit
