A caregiving mission
To the Editor:
During the last election, seven out of 10 people in the state of Massachusetts voted to decriminalize marijuana and legalize it for medicinal use.
A recent cat scan revealed a tumor on my adrenal gland, for which I am now being treated at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. My oldest son has also recently undergone his second surgery for cancer and is now recuperating.
Concerning the story about my son, Keith, growing marijuana, his intent is solely to provide us with an oil extracted from the plant to treat family members for illnesses that can be helped by this oil. The oil does not make you "high." His actions were purely out of love for his mother and brother, and he has been designated as our caregiver to the state. We are legally eligible and are going through the process, according to the laws set forth on January 1, 2013, concerning the growing and use of medical marijuana. See YouTube, "Run From the Cure."
