Vineyard Youth Tennis holds 5th annual Tennis Extravaganza

Vineyard Youth Tennis held its fifth annual Round Robin Extravaganza and Silent Auction last weekend.

Michael Halisky and Kent Leonard captured the men's A Division title by defeating Jake and Paul Pertile 6-4, 6-3. Liz Roberts and Laura Schroeder defeated Samantha Potter and Nina Bramhall by the head to head rule to win the ladies A division as both teams tied in number of games won.

In the ladies B Division, Michelle Bettencourt and Paula Rego went unbeaten in three matches to take first place, with Sue Peltier and Cathy Lattanzi coming in second. Kathy Pogue and Susan Garrett also went three for three and prevailed in the ladies C Division.   Kristen Reiman and Lisa Murphy came in second.

In the feature exhibition of the evening, 13-year-old Zak Danz defeated 11-year-old Kelly Klaren 7-5. 6-7. 10-4 with a large crowd in attendance.

Funds raised from this event will benefit the VYT Scholarship and Activities Fund. VYT would like to thank all of the local businesses, restaurants, and individuals who donated to the auction.
