Whether it's the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras, the Grammys, Valentine's Day, the Oscars, a birthday (mine for example), anniversary, or a just an excuse to get together, February is packed with opportunities to celebrate occasions from large parties to intimate dinners. In the next few weeks restaurants are catering to these fêtes with a variety of food, music, and lodging specials.
Celebrating your Valentine
If you want to get out of the house for Valentine's Day, many restaurants are offering a night out on the town. Here is a selection:
Get your staycation on at Edgartown's Harbor View Hotel, with a complimentary overnight stay after dinner on the 14th. Reserve your spot for Water Street's Valentine's Day prix fixe dinner and relax in a room up above. Dinner costs $75 per person and includes a choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert (price does not include tax and gratuity). Begin your meal with an amuse-bouch (a single-bite appetizer) and glass of sparkling wine followed by your choice of Maine lobster bisque, local oysters rock, or a salad of frisee, blue cheese, coddled egg, and blood orange vinaigrette. Treat yourself to cast iron-seared sous vide filet, sautéed local bay scallops, or farrotto with roasted root vegetables. If you have room, indulge in the dark chocolate molten cake or profiteroles for dessert. For more information or to make a reservation, call 508-627-7000.
Eat, stay, and love in Vineyard Haven at The Mansion House this Valentine's Day. Enjoy a four-course chef's tasting menu as well as a la carte offerings at Zephrus. The $45 prix fixe menu starts off with a choice of crispy pork rillettes or a trio of seafood. Next, enjoy butternut squash soup or a salad of frisee and endive with roasted pear and chèvre. Choose from filet mignon and lobster tail carpaccio, pan-seared scallops, or roasted chicken roulade for your entrée. Finish the meal with a flourless chocolate stout cake or cinnamon-raisin sticky buns with vanilla ice cream and maple anglaise (price does not include tax and gratuity). Stay the night on February 12, 13, or 14 and enjoy two dinners for the price of one. If you already have plans for the 14th, the special tasting menu will be served on February 8 and 9 as well as 12-16. For more information or to make a reservation, call 508-693-2200.
