Edgartown fire department puts the brakes to truck fire

After a busy storm-related weekend, Edgartown firefighters were called into action just after 7 pm on Monday by a report of a parked truck on fire near a house at 16 Sparrow Lane in the Dodger’s Hole subdivision.

Firefighters arrived quickly, but the F-150 Ford pick-up truck was completely engulfed in flames, fire Chief Peter Shemeth said. Firefighters saved a nearby shed that had begun to burn.

Owner Kurt Crossland told firefighters he had parked the truck about one hour before the fire started. Chief Shemeth said the truck was a total loss. The fire likely started in the engine compartment or cab and is not considered suspicious, he said.
