Islanders shed locks for a good cause
Last Thursday, Tisbury School students and teachers Rita Jeffers and Alice Robinson shed their locks at Maggie's Salon in Vineyard Haven for a good cause. The hair was gathered and sent to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children who suffer from medical hair loss.
It was the fourth year that Maggie's and the stylists, who donate their time and skills, participated. "It's a lot of fun," owner Maggie Mae said. "I look forward to next year. You do not have to be a student or teacher to participate. We will cut anyone willing, with ten inches to cut."
