For the fourth consecutive year, The Boathouse Foundation, a philanthropic unit of The Boathouse Club of Edgartown, has contributed $25,000 to the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard.

General Manager Scott Anderson and Club Manager Sydney Mullen presented the check on behalf of the club’s members, employees, and owners during a brief ceremony on Tuesday, February 19, according to a press release.

The Boathouse Club established the Boathouse Foundation, Inc. to provide financial grants to nonprofits on Martha’s Vineyard. The Foundation is funded by the generosity of the club’s members and owners via an annual contribution. “We are delighted to be able to support the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard and have committed to making an annual $25,000 donation to the organization,” Mr. Anderson said.

The annual donation supports the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard’s Financial Assistance Program that subsidizes Y membership and program fees to keep them affordable for all, and it awards financial assistance for those who are unable to pay, according to the Y.

Since opening, the Y has awarded over $233,000 directly to more than 883 individuals in the Island community. This allows seniors, adults, families, and children to enjoy vital programs such as Child Watch, After School care, Summer Camp, Learn to Swim, Mako Swim Club, Fitness, and Group Exercise, according to YMCA financial development director Sarah Soushek.
