JB Blau, owner of Dreamland in Oak Bluffs, threw a “Champions Rally,” Friday afternoon, celebrating the tremendous success of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys basketball team.

The Vineyarders knocked out top-seeded Wareham to win the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional title and reached the state semifinal at Boston Garden for the first time since 1973, before losing a 50-47 thriller to Danvers. The Falcons went on to win their second consecutive state championship four nights later.

The free event was hosted by local sports announcer Ken Goldberg, who introduced the team and coach Mike Joyce to the dozens of fans on hand. Photos of the team were displayed on a large screen as Coach Joyce and team captains Izak Browne and Jack Roberts spoke to the crowd.
