Kevin Keady hosts a night of Grateful Dead tunes this Saturday.

Island musicians, some remnants of the local cover band The Grateful Dread, will gather for a free performance of Grateful Dead tunes at The Wharf Pub in Edgartown this Saturday, March 30, beginning at 10 pm.

Hosted by Kevin Keady, the Chappy troubadour, with special guests and members of the original Grateful Dread Wes Nagy, Mike Benjamin, and Tom Major, the show also includes Paul Thurlow, Don Groover, Kent Riley and Dana Edelman.

Mr. Keady said that many of the Dead’s songs, especially those by their chief songwriter Robert Hunter, “are infused with a Zen-like sensibility, which makes them not only fun to dance to, but also fun to sing.”

All “Deadheads,” a peripatetic group of fans who followed the Dead through the 70s and 80s, are welcome, as is everyone else.
