Dartmouth broke open a 7-7 halftime tie with six unanswered goals in the second half to pull away for a 13-8 win over Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in the girls lacrosse season opener, Wednesday afternoon at Dan McCarthy Field at the high school.

The Indians punished the Vineyarders repeatedly with long runs up the middle. Dartmouth goalie Ellie Gamache thwarted the Vineyard attack with several point-blank saves.

Alayna Hutchinson scored four goals to lead the Vineyarders. Molly Wallace and K.C. Wallace each scored twice.

The girls scrimmage with Archbishop Williams Saturday at 11 am in Braintree and travel to Mashpee on Monday for a game against the Falcons at 3 pm.
