Warm shirtsleeve days followed by just above freezing temperatures leave so many of us asking, where is our spring weather? But we must face the fact that these variations are typical of a Vineyard spring, so just be prepared for about anything.

Here is a delicious, sure sign of spring. The M.V. Gourmet Cafe and Bakery will open for the season Thursday, April 11. Back Door Donuts will first be open on Friday, April 12, at 7:30 pm. Both the front and back doors will be open daily/nightly during school vacation week. Check at the store for hours (508-693-3688).

Sunday, April 7, is the last of Grace Episcopal Church’s off-season Lobster Roll Sales and also the last chance to purchase them at the bargain price of $15 as prices will unfortunately rise in the summer. The sale will take place from 12 noon til 2 pm or sold out.

Deborah Mayhew would like all to know that there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial for her life partner, Todd Follansbee, at the New Ag Hall in West Tisbury on Saturday, April 6. Todd died last September. A memorial service will start at 5 pm, followed by a potluck dinner (limited refrigeration, no warm-up). Email Deborah at drdeb@vineyard.net if you have any questions.

The Oak Bluffs Public Library is hosting Free Yoga with Vanessa Kent, Saturday, April 20, 2 pm, at the Oak Bluffs Library. Join in for a mixed-level Kripalu yoga class that is open to everyone. Only 10 mats available, so bring your own!

The Martha’s Vineyard Museum is set to open a new exhibit, titled Martha’s Vineyard Art Association. The Opening is Friday, April 5, and this exhibition will feature highlights from the Art Association’s permanent collection.

Just a reminder that the Martha’s Vineyard Community Services Spring Electronics Disposal Day, Sponsored by Brunos, it takes place this Saturday, April 6, from 9 am to 2 pm on the Campus of MVCS , 111 Edgartown Road, Oak Bluffs, across from the high school.

Kenny Ponte is celebrating his two-year anniversary for his double transplant for his kidney and pancreas. He and his family know that they are blessed and thank God every day for the donor family that made the life-saving decision to donate their loved one’s organs. The Ponte family requests that you please remember to check off the organ donor box the next time you renew your driver’s license.

Tartan Day will be celebrated at Trinity Parish House on Saturday, April 6. There will be music, a bagpiper, and crafts for children. So come and join in to this family fun day between 2 and 4 pm.

Jump start your goals for summer and enroll in one of the many programs at the Y, including the new summer camp, Camp Terra Mare. It is time to enroll now and as space is limited, we suggest you do it quickly. A Vineyard fundraiser for Karen Allen Berube will be held at our wonderful P-A Club on April 13. It will be a typical Island affair with contributions by so many caring residents, including items for both silent and live auctions, lasagna dinner, free raw bar supplied by the Scheffer family, a live band to dance to, and Joanne Cassidy will stop by to sing a few songs. Then on April 18, another fabulous Fish Fry will take place at the P-A starting at 6 pm and you may eat in or take out.
