The Vineyarders tasted defeat for the first time this season as Bishop Stang scored on a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 3-2 Tuesday in North Dartmouth.

The game was the Eastern Athletic Conference opener for the Vineyarders, who dropped to 3-1 following a win over Bourne and a two-game sweep over New Testament of Norton.

Vineyard starting pitcher Oscar Hansen struck out five Spartans, walked one, and surrendered one earned run in four innings of work.

Jack Roberts went 3 for 3, with a home run, triple, and single, to go with two stolen bases. Aaron Lowe hit a triple and Tim Roberts singled.

The Vineyarders were home to EAC foe Coyle Cassidy on Wednesday afternoon.
