Edgartown voters say yes to fire trucks and standpipe paint job

In a follow-up to annual town meeting last Tuesday, Edgartown voters went to the polls Thursday, April 11, and said yes to a Proposition 2.5 funding request to purchase two new fire trucks. The vote was 265 to 105.

Voters also said yes to painting the water standpipe by a vote of 278 to 89.

A total of 379 voters, or about 12 percent of the town’s 3,194 registered voters, went to the polls Thursday. That number was well below the 22 percent that turned out in 2012.

There were no contested elections.

The results of the election of town officers follows: selectman, Michael Donaroma (262); board of assessors, Donna Goodale (119 write-in); board of health, Harold Zadeh (307); constable, Jonathan Searle (322); vote for two, financial advisory committee: Steven C. Jordan (263), Tom Durawa (27-write in); library trustees: Denise Searle (306), Carl E. Watt (275); park commission, Glen Searle (324); planning board, Robert Cavallo (377); school committee: David Rossi (320); wastewater treatment commission, Glen Searle (312); water commission, John S. Lovewell (293); Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank, Edward W. Vincent Jr. (189).
