Sarah (Mott) Alwardt is among 200 teachers selected from 1,500 candidates across the U.S. to participate in the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy in Jersey City, N.J., this summer. Pro golfer Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, partnered with ExxonMobil, the National Science Teachers Association, and Math Solutions to create an academy to promote “best practices” in teaching with the goal of inspiring interest and achievement in math and science among third-to-fifth-grade students. A third-grade teacher in Marietta, Georgia, Sarah graduated from MVRHS (Class of 1994) and holds degrees from Boston University and Kennesaw State University.
