To the Editor:
We are fortunate on the Vineyard to have many fine physicians. I have received excellent care from many in my 25 years of living here year-round, beginning with dear Russell Hoxsie, until he retired. I now wonder if we may need even more.
On April 5, I decided, at age 85, that a lingering shoulder pain (a rotator cuff, perhaps?) could use advice from my primary care physician. I didn’t term it an emergency when I called the office to explain the specific discomfort. I was somewhat disappointed, to say the least, to be told I could not be seen there for four weeks, on May 3. Now I’m feeling rejected and thinking of sitting in the emergency room, awaiting my turn.
