Oak Bluffs residents may see brown water coming from their faucets or a temporary drop in water pressure as water district crews begin flushing hydrants this month.
The water district opens hydrants twice each year to clean sediment from the lines, according to water district officials.
Crews will work from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. The whole process is expected to take four to six weeks.
Water district officials advise residents that if they see discoloration in tap water to run cold water for several minutes until the water clears. They also advise residents to check the water for discoloration before doing laundry.
Questions should be directed to the water district office at 508-693-5527.
