Vineyard disaster relief organizations will carry out a shelter drill at the Tisbury School from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 4. The Island-wide drill — the first of its kind, according to organizers — will test the ability of the various organizations to coordinate emergency shelter efforts in the event of a hurricane or other disaster.
Groups participating in the drill include the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the Medical Reserve Corps, Emergency Management personnel from the various towns, and the Boy Scouts. Also taking part is the Island’s brand-new Disaster Animal Rescue Team (MV DART).
