The MV United boys Under-18 travel soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 4-0 win over Nantucket on Sunday at Veterans Park in Vineyard Haven.

Martin Aranzabe, Elie Jordi, Colin Cameron, and Brandon Dwane all scored in the second half as MVU improved to 4-0, atop the South Coast Soccer League standings.

Neither team could get much of a rhythm going in the scoreless first half. Although Nantucket had the edge at first in midfield and pressed the attack, the Vineyard side was more dangerous in a counterattacking role.

In the second half, United dominated.

“We worked hard and played like lions,” Coach Esteban Aranzabe said. “We pressured like crazy, got back the midfield, and didn’t let them play.”

In other SCSL boys action, the MV United U-11 Black team defeated Westport, 3-1, Sunday at Veterans Park. The U-11 Purple team drew, 2-2, on Saturday with visiting Mariner of Mattapoisett. The U-12s lost, 1-0, to host Barnstable and the U-13s were off.

On the girls side, the United U-15s picked up a 3-0 win at Sandwich on Sunday. The U-13s traveled to Nantucket on Sunday and came away with a 1-0 win. The U-10s lost at home to Norton.

The MV United U-14 boys Division 2 Mass. Premier League (MAPLE) team won their second match of the spring season Sunday at Veterans Park, 2-1, over Commonwealth FC of Braintree.
