The Vineyard boys varsity tennis team shook off its first defeat in 23 months to defeat Bishop Stang, 5-0, in an Eastern Athletic Conference match Tuesday in Oak Bluffs. First doubles regular Patrick McCarthy returned to his former second singles slot and took care of Kevin Cariou, 6-1, 6-3. Jackson McBride and Kyp Cooperrider double bageled Lenny Murphy and Owen Leary at first doubles, while second doubles tandem Jake Pertile and Sean McAndrews rolled over Ben Chiron and Liam Kid 6-0, 6-1.
