The Vineyard boys varsity tennis team shook off its first defeat in 23 months to defeat Bishop Stang, 5-0, in an Eastern Athletic Conference match Tuesday in Oak Bluffs. The Vineyarders (10-1, 6-0 EAC), who clinched a state tournament berth with a win over Coyle Cassidy on May 3, won every match in straight sets.

Justice Yennie moved up to play at first singles and won, 6-2, 6-0, over Michael Dombrowski. First doubles regular Patrick McCarthy returned to his former second singles slot and took care of Kevin Cariou, 6-1, 6-3. Ryan Sawyer played in Yennie’s usual third singles spot and rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Austin Reiff.

Jackson McBride and Kyp Cooperrider double bageled Lenny Murphy and Owen Leary at first doubles, while second doubles tandem Jake Pertile and Sean McAndrews rolled over Ben Chiron and Liam Kid 6-0, 6-1.
