Not to be forgotten

To the Editor:

The residents and staff of Windemere thank the Martha’s Vineyard High School’s National Honor Society for bringing the Senior Prom to Windemere on Sunday afternoon. What a wonderful event.

The students decorated the recreation room for a 1940s prom. The residents were able to relive their own proms, complete with the music of that time — Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, and I think I heard Rosemary Clooney?

The students did a fantastic job and deserve so much credit for taking the time to create this special afternoon for the residents. The smiles on the faces of our residents, as seen in the beautiful photographs taken by Ralph Stewart in last week’s MV Times, say it all.

A special thank you goes to Fionnuala Howell, who initiated this event. Fionnuala is a wonderful volunteer. She gives so much of herself to so many of our residents. We really appreciate all that she has done for us.

Also, Maddie Webster, president of the National Honor Society, who worked so diligently to bring the whole afternoon together. And lastly, we want to thank each and every student who came to Windemere, as well as their advisor, to bring joy and the memories of youth into the residents’ lives. You gave the residents of Windemere a magical afternoon that will never be forgotten. Thank you.
