Martha’s Vineyard girls down Coyle Cassidy 21-7 in girls lacrosse

The Martha’s Vineyard girls varsity lacrosse team tasted success for the first time in two weeks with a 21-7 victory over Coyle Cassidy of Taunton in an Eastern Athletic Conference matchup Thursday at Dan McCarthy Field in Oak Bluffs.

With the Vineyarders up 15-5 at halftime, the game was delayed for more than 30 minutes, due to lightning.

Taylor Poggi scored six goals, Alayna Hutchinson netted five, and Molly Wallace added four more to lead the Vineyarders, who improved to 3-9. Isabel Smith (2), Emma Yuen, Alice Keenan, Lee Hayman, and Emily DeBettencourt scored the other Vineyard goals. Assists went to Taylor Poggi (4), Molly Wallace (3), Lee Hayman (2), Isabel Smith (2), and K.C. Wallace.
