Martha’s Vineyard boys clinch fourth consecutive EAC tennis title

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys tennis team wrapped up a fourth consecutive Eastern Athletic Conference title Monday in Attleboro with a 5-0 win over Bishop Feehan.

The Vineyarders, the defending MIAA Division 3 state champions, are 11-1 overall and 7-0 in the EAC with one league match remaining Wednesday at Somerset Berkley.

Natty Schneider won the tightest match of the day, 7-6, 6-2, over Jack Lahiff at first singles. Kent Leonard defeated Matt Ustas, 6-3, 6-3, at second singles and Justice Yennie downed Brendan Scanlon at third singles, 6-2, 6-2.

M.V. won both doubles matches in straight sets. Jackson McBride and Patrick McCarthy defeated Hayden Miller and John Shanley, 6-3, 6-2, while Justin Smith and Sean McAndrews beat Gino Volpe and Chris Kelly, 6-0, 6-3.
