The Long Point 5 is a Repertory Ensemble composed of trumpet (John Schilling), trombone (Jim Athearn), clarinet (Julie Schilling), flute (Bud Larson), and keyboard (Jeri Larson).

Hear the group this Sunday, May 19, at the M.V. Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven, starting at 4 pm.

The versatile quintet plays a medley of music, ranging from Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, George Gershwin, to Scott Joplin and Argentine tangos. They also cover old favorites like “After You’ve Gone,” “Sweet Lorraine,” and Hoagy Carmichael’s “Stardust” and “Georgia on my Mind.” There is also a selection from Bach and Debussy and an original piece by the group’s arranger, Mr. Larson.

Over the past year, The Long Point 5 has performed at gallery openings, senior centers in West Tisbury and Edgartown, and at cocktail parties and other events on Martha’s Vineyard. All the musicians are members of the Vineyard Haven Town Band.
