Dorchester runner wins Memorial Day weekend 5K

Ben Bosworth of Dorchester led the field of nearly 500 runners and walkers to win the Memorial Day weekend 5K road race Sunday, on an unseasonably cool, cloudy day in Oak Bluffs. Mr. Bosworth completed the course around East Chop in 17:08, 51 seconds ahead of race runner-up, Rene Da Silva of Vineyard Haven.

Grace Chang of Media, Pennsysvania was the first woman to the finish line, placing 10th overall, in 19:29. Bonnie Kingsbury of Edgartown was the women’s runner-up and 12th overall, in 19:42.

Marcy Glenn of Denver topped the walkers, and Aidan Furlong of South Glastonbury, Connecticut won the pre-race fun run with a time of 6:21.
