‘Tis the season for takeout. After Memorial Day weekend, many restaurants open their back doors and takeout windows for service. Owned and operated by the Rezendes family since 1995, The Square Rigger in Edgartown offers both indoor dining as well as a takeout window.
Conveniently located between State Beach and South Beach, the takeout window is a perfect place to grab a bite and bring it to the beach, or sit and enjoy your meal on the picnic tables outside. Ample parking is another perk.
Signature items on the all-day menu include a braised BBQ beef sandwich, burgers, and fish tacos made with pan-seared cod, creamy salsa, and coleslaw served on soft tortillas. Make sure to try the hot lobster roll, with lobster sautéed in butter, or the traditional lobster roll, with mayo on a grilled bun. Both rolls come with a free cup of The Rigger’s locally harvested homemade quahog chowder, a Rezendes family recipe.
The First Mate kids menu has a selection of chicken fingers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, and PB&J, all served with French fries.
Currently, the take out window is open Thursday through Monday from 11 am to 9 pm, and will be open seven days a week starting June 9. Order from the takeout window or call ahead. Indoor dining begins at 5 pm. Food from the dining room menu is available for takeout after 5 pm. Be on the lookout for weekly and daily specials.
