The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank has bought a three-acre lot in Tisbury, abutting its Wapatequa Woods Reservation off the Edgartown Road. The sellers were Cynthia Kolnos and James Childs Jr., and the price was $85,000. The public land conservation agency announced the purchase Wednesday.

The reservation, begun in 1988 with a 14-acre acquisition, has now, because of several additions, grown to 105 acres. It has helped to create a greenbelt around Vineyard Haven, according to a Land Bank press release. The property is located along the Cross-Tisbury Trail and was visible to hikers participating in the Land Bank’s 21st annual Cross-Island Hike, which took place Saturday.
