Edgartown selectmen, library trustees, members of the library building committee and a crowd of flower-bearing school children gathered Monday afternoon on the front lawn of Edgartown’s 1924 school building, to dedicate a sign which marks the site of the new Edgartown Free Public Library.

The derelict elementary school building, which hasn’t been used for 13 years, is being demolished this July and August to make room for the new public library, scheduled to open in the first quarter of calendar year 2015.
