A golden opportunity

To the Editor:

As some of you may know, I have been operating for two years, along my with partner, Melody Cunningham (widow of the late, great reggae legend, Peter Tosh), a Jamaican style food truck, Irie Bites, out of Vineyard Haven. Recently, a golden opportunity has presented itself. We have been approached by a local business owner, who recently purchased an alleyway along Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs, to relocate there. While we loved Vineyard Haven and developed a loyal customer base, Oak Bluffs is clearly a better town for our type of operation, due to foot traffic and an active nightlife.

Next Tuesday at 5 pm there will be an important selectmen’s meeting at the basement of the public library that will go a long way to determining whether we will be permitted to open up for business by July 4th weekend.

We, along with our many followers, feel that bringing another food choice to a town that already enjoys a wonderful reputation for catering to many ethnic and cultural interests, will only add a new dimension to its colorful melting pot.

Thus, we urge anyone who cares about the future of Irie Bites to please attend this crucial meeting next Tuesday, or email Alice Butler, the office administrator, at abutler@oakbluffsma.gov. One love.
