Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School graduate Kevin Burchill, accompanied by his parents Jane and Kevin Burchill of West Tisbury, attended a Comcast Leaders and Achievers awards ceremony at the State House in Boston on June 18.

Mr. Burchill was one out 100 college-bound high school seniors from a Comcast community to be awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of his community service, leadership skills, positive attitude, and academic achievement. Representative Tim Madden also presented a citation to Kevin for the leadership he demonstrated at the high school and in the Island community. He was also treated to a personal tour of the Senate chamber by Senator Ross, an original descendent of the Mayhew family on Martha’s Vineyard. Mr. Burchill will attend George Washington University in the fall.
