New York DJs AndrewAndrew will perform live this Friday, July 5, at the “Art for Art” cocktail reception at the Vineyard Arts Project in Edgartown.

The duo AndrewAndrew is famous for their taste. From designing fashion, to interior decorating, to reviewing theater and restaurants, they leave a distinct impression. And they’ve proved that they know how to throw a party. But perhaps they are best known for their DJing abilities. Their monthly mixtapes have gained quite the online following, not to mention “The AndrewAndrew Show,” a podcast that highlights their witty banter.

The men share more than a first name. For more than a decade, they’ve been dressing in identical outfits. Same glasses, same hairstyle, same flamboyant jackets or neon pants or bow ties. With a persona like that, it’s hard to be overlooked. And the ultra-hip New York community has certainly taken notice.

AndrewAndrew have appeared on the HBO hit show “Girls,” performed with well-known artists such as Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, and DJed events for organizations such as The New Yorker. And they do it all via their iPads, placing themselves on the cutting edge of both music and technology.

This makes them a great act for the Vineyard Arts Project, which is striving to keep art fresh through residencies and performances for dancers, actors, playwrights, and others. The Art for Art reception on Friday will launch the fourth season of performances in the New Writers/New Plays series. Performances of Nastaran Ahmadi’s “The Bet,” and Woodshed Collective’s “DB” will be on July 6 and 7. Other events this season include Ars Nova, Musical Theater Lab, and Dance Theater of Harlem.

Art for Art Reception with DJs AndrewAndrew, Friday, July 5, 5–8 pm, Vineyard Arts Project, Upper Main Street, Edgartown. $35; $30 in advance. Premium gift package tickets are available for $50. Wine, beer, and cocktails will be served, and a silent auction will be held. Prizes include tickets to Shakespeare in the Park, art by Hugo Dalton, and Gabriella Herman.
