Aaron Carter at Dreamland

Despite suffering a brutal beating from a New Kids on the Block fan two weekends ago, pop star Aaron Carter, of “Aaron’s Party” fame, is on schedule to perform at Dreamland in downtown Oak Bluffs, on Sunday, July 7. The show is for all ages, and tickets are $25. VIP tickets are also available for $75. VIP Ticket holders will get the opportunity to hang with Aaron pre-show, take photos, and have their merchandise signed. Doors open at 7 pm. The Long Point 5

The Long Point 5, a local repertory ensemble that plays classical, jazz, and Broadway favorites, will perform at the Chilmark Library on Wednesday, July 10, at 5 pm. Members of the quintet are John Schilling on trumpet, Jim Athearn on trombone, Julie Schilling on clarinet, Bud Larson on flute, and Jeri Larson on keyboard.

Wednesday’s performance may include Bach fugues, Debussy preludes, and jazz by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and Jelly Roll Morton; Argentine tango, rags by Scott Joplin, some George Gershwin, Stephen Foster, and such favorites as “Stardust,” “Tin Roof Blues,” and “Ballin’ the Jack.”

All of the members of the ensemble are also members of the Vineyard Haven Town Band, which gives free concerts every Sunday evening throughout the summer in Oak Bluffs and in Vineyard Haven.
