The third annual Stars + Stripes Festival on Saturday, July 6, will keep the Fourth of July festivities going strong at Flatbread Company adjacent to the Martha’s Vineyard airport, with a long lineup of musical talent.

This year’s festival is headlined by indie pop group Walk the Moon, who will be followed up by St. Lucia, Haerts, and Vineyard group Dukes County Love Affair (DCLA). Magic Man was originally scheduled to perform.

A benefit for the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard, the festival will be opened by teens Darby Patterson and Tessa Whitaker, of Alex’s Place, the YMCA’s teen center. Darby and Tessa can expect to perform for an audience of 700. The tradition to invite teen openers to the festival reinforces the YMCA’s mission to provide a safe and encouraging environment for young people.

Lizzy Plapinger and Derek Davies, founders of both Neon Gold Records, and the Stars + Stripes Festival, met on the Island as children, where they spent their summers at the Chilmark Community Center.

“With a wide range of youth programming and the opening of the Alexandra Gagnon Teen Center…we strongly believe the YMCA is positively impacting the lives of teens and children just as the Island changed our lives in the summers of our youth,” Ms. Plapinger and Mr. Davies said in a press release. “We are so proud to partner with the Y, as we feel it embodies a beautiful crossroads of our love for music and the Island.”

All proceeds from Stars + Stripes will be donated to the YMCA, which has given more than $220,000 in financial assistance to families, seniors, children, and organizations in need since it opened two years ago.

With this year’s lineup, Ms. Plapinger and Mr. Davies are confident their fundraising effort will be successful. “We are proud to announce that after another year of preparation, this show will be our biggest and best yet.”

Lovers of pop-rock and electronic music should agree. Headliners Walk the Moon perform with painted faces, upbeat guitars, and sing-along choruses that will be sure to engage a lively crowd.

St. Lucia, an electronic solo artist, is gaining steam in the electronic music world for his tropical beats and remixes of popular artists like Passion Pit and Foster the People. St. Lucia is also a producer; he collaborated with his follow-up act, Brooklyn-based quartet Haerts, on their single “Wings.” Haerts pairs synth-heavy pop with the impressive vocal range of Nini Fabi.
