A sad anniversary

To the Editor:

It is the anniversary of the tragic accident involving my family last year on Barnes Road.

I would like to say, Please slow down, be patient with other drivers, don’t take risks. We have a lot of traffic here in the summer.

I would also like to thank the first responders, EMTs from all towns who responded and got everyone to the hospital so quickly; also to the two doctors who stopped to assist at the scene; to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, what a fantastic job, which seemed to move without any chaos.

To our grief counselors from here to Beth Israel, who calmed my nephews and family. And a big thanks to our Boston hospitals.

To our marvelous Steamship Authority for getting the rest of the family off so many times. It’s a blessing to know so many of you.

For the EMTs that came to my job with concern and support, my church family for all your prayers and kind words; my family and friends here, for all their acts of kindness, and consoling.

I hope all of you will be able to enjoy this patriotic holiday without any emergencies this year. God bless all of you.
