The 11th annual Vineyard Streetball Classic is going on throughout the day, July 3, on the hard courts, basketball and tennis, at Niantic Park in Oak Bluffs.

Tournament administrator Omar Daniel and his staff have brought together 22 teams for this year’s 3 on 3 hoops Classic, featuring hoopsters aged 9 to 18 from Martha’s Vineyard, New England, and across the nation, including New Jersey, California, Florida, and Georgia.

A portion of the proceeds from the tournament benefits the Oak Bluffs Parks Department summer basketball programs and goes toward scholarships for Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club youngsters to attend summer camp. Players from three Boys and Girls Club summer camp teams are attending this year’s event for free.

Games are played in three age divisions on the main courts and on the adjacent tennis courts. The aptly named Returning Champs, formerly Timex, are going for a fourth consecutive 15-18 year old crown.
