The defending champion Honeys overpowered the Creamers, 19-6, Tuesday night in women’s slow pitch play at Veterans Park.

The evening began with the Snaps defeating the Rug Sox 21-8 on Field A and Mama’s Girls topping the Shady Ladies 14-6 on Field B. The Snaps jumped out to a 15-0 lead but the Rug Sox averted the mercy rule by posting eight runs during a two-out rally in the fifth inning. The Snaps put the icing on the cake with six runs in the seventh. Mama’s Girls put up a 7-0 lead in the first inning and held off the Shadies the rest of the way.

In men’s play, on Monday night at Veterans Park, the two-time defending champion Hurricanes stormed to the top of the Island Softball League standings with a 7-1 record. The ‘Canes got production from everyone in the lineup in a 21-1 mercy-shortened win over the Floaters.

In the nightcap, Lamar Moreis drilled a home run as the Blazers edged the Brewhas, 10-9, atoning for a 20-18 walk-off loss in the previous meeting between the teams.
