The song she sings

To the Editor:

“Goodbye, my friend/I know I’ll never see you again. Our time together through all the years/Will take away my tears.

“Goodbye, my friend, The fun we had and the love you gave me through all those happy years will take away my tears/I’m O.K. now. Goodbye, my friend.”

I’ve been singing this song to myself since the day she left. I miss her. Big time. Our friendship spanned almost 50 years. We shared our joys and sorrows and could always laugh our way through almost everything.

I admired her so much — her many talents, her positive attitude, and when she was handed lemons, believe me, she made lemon meringue pie. I could go on and on about her, but I’ll just simply say, “Goodbye, my friend.”
