Grown Ups 2 (PG-13)

The Heat (R)

A comedy from the director of “Bridesmaids” about an uptight FBI special agent who is paired with a testy Boston cop in order to take down a ruthless drug lord. The Lone Ranger (PG-13)

Johnny Depp brings along all of his Deppishness as Tonto, the Native American warrior who transforms John Reid, a man of the law, into the Lone Ranger, a legend of justice. It is an action-fantasy in which the bad guys get their due. Also starring Armie Hammer, William Fichtner.

Pacific Rim (PG-13)

This Is the End (R)

The apocalypse arrives during a celebrity-filled party at James Franco’s house. It may not be very pretty, but it is pretty funny in a kind of sick, fall-into-a-hole-filled-with-lava sort of way. The actors and entertainers play themselves, more or less. Starring James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Rihanna, and Seth Rogen, who also co-wrote and co-directed, and many many more.

Turbo (PG)

An animated film about a speed-obsessed snail who dreams of being the world’s greatest race car driver.
