Fish in Latin American Art opens at Ledesma Gallery
Friday will mark the opening of the art show Fish in Latin American Art, a collaboration between Uraguayan sculptor/oil painter Washington Ledesma and Cuban acrylic artist Alejandro Carreno.
The show will take place from 5 to 8 pm at Mr. Ledesma’s gallery, off of Sea Glen Road in Vineyard Haven. Mr. Ledesma is known for his whimsical and colorful depictions of fish that hail back to the traditions of Latin American art, especially the Mexican muralists.
His contemporary, Mr. Carreno, paints bright geometric fish using a brush and pallet knives. Fish in Latin American Art will be on display for 12 days, and the gallery will be open from 12 noon to 5 pm each afternoon.
