Celebrate Della Hardman Day on Saturday at 11 am under a tent in Ocean Park. We couldn’t forget Della and what she meant to us. And Della always did appreciate a good party.
A folk musical celebrates the story in words and song of one of Bob Dylan’s musical mentors. Paul Clayton of New Bedford was a successful young folk singer in 1961 when Bob met him. The tavern wench, Lynn Feingold, will present ballads of colonial days and nights in the new lobby of the Vineyard Playhouse on Tuesday at 8 pm. Cost is $15.
Get your lobster rolls or chowder at the Legion Hall from 4:30 to 7 pm on Tuesday. The American Legion offers air conditioning and plenty of parking.
Jill Shaw Ruddock, author of “The Second Half of Your Life,” will speak at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center. Her book suggests women are programmed to make life after menopause the best half of life. Special guest Rose Styron will join the conversation. Light refreshments will be served, donated by Our Market. The joint event benefits the West Tisbury Library and the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center. Tickets are $25 ($20 for members) at the door from 7 pm. Books will be for sale.
I enjoy anyone who makes me laugh. I doubt if the person who wrote the sign on the road to Edgartown found any humor in the situation, but the sign delights me each time I see it: “Private road. Dead end. Google maps has it wrong.”
