One of the roadside views on the Island that we do not want to see is an accident. Sunday morning, a week ago, headed to Vineyard Haven, two mopeds coming around the hospital corner, where so many accidents have occurred, slid around the corner so quickly and unable to stop, tipped over. As if I was observing a slow motion video, there were sounds of crunching plastic and the drivers ended up in the road as the mopeds slid closer and closer to the front of my car. Thankfully they stopped before that happened. This Sunday, I came upon the accident by the Lower Lambert’s Cove Road entrance. EMS, fire trucks, ambulances, and police were all there as well as a completely destroyed car. The lesson here: please, small island, much traffic, stop the speeding.
