Business brief: AT&T says 4G LTE now available on Martha’s Vineyard

AT&T has turned on the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network on Martha’s Vineyard, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology, according to an AT&T press release.

The benefits include faster speeds, up to 10 times faster than 3G, reliability and access to new technology.

“We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network on Martha’s Vineyard responds to what residents and visitors alike want from their mobile experience — more, faster reliable [service] on the best devices,” said Patricia Jacobs, president, AT&T New England.

Asked if 4G extends to the distributed antenna system in Chilmark and Aquinnah, an AT&T spokesman said the 4G LTE network now covers “the majority of the Island, including the Oak Bluffs, West Tisbury, Vineyard Haven and Edgartown areas.”
