Big Daddy Kane & Joe headline weekend festival

The Martha’s Vineyard Summer Madness Music Conference and Festival brings a variety of performances, talks, and parties to the Vineyard this weekend, but the main event will be hip-hop artist Big Daddy Kane, who performs at Dreamland on Friday, August 9.

The smash singles “Raw” and “Ain’t No Half Steppin'” launched the Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, native’s career in 1988. Big Daddy Kane was also featured alongside Ice Cube on Public Enemy’s, “Burn Hollywood Burn,” and won a Grammy award for his contribution to the Quincy Jones album “Back On The Block.” His tracks appear on major motion picture soundtracks such as “Lean On Me,” “Juice,” and “Mo’ Money.”

R&B singer Joe, who released his 10th album “DoubleBack: Evolution of R&B” in July, will also perform at Dreamland on Friday night.

The Summer Madness Festival will continue on Saturday with a Business of Music conference including panelists such as Jermaine Dupri, a beach party at Inkwell, and an Old School Party at the Island House. Events conclude on Sunday with a gospel/jazz brunch and talent show at Hooked.
