The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks completed a two game Futures Collegiate Baseball League semifinal sweep Monday evening at the Ball Park in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, with a 7-3 win over the Raging Tide.

Davidson Peguero of Fisher College in Boston went 3 for 4 with two singles, a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Starting pitcher John Cook of Amherst College earned the win, allowing four hits, with two strike outs and two walks in eight innings of work.

With the semifinal win, the Sharks advanced to the best of three FCBL championship series, set to begin Wednesday night at Holman Stadium in Nashua, New Hampshire, against the two-time defending champion Silver Knights. Nashua swept the Brockton Rox two games to none in the other semifinal series.

The Sharks finished the regular season in first place at 35-18, one game ahead of Nashua at 34-19, and they held a 5-1 edge in the season series. Martha’s Vineyard could have hosted the series opener but opted instead to host game two Thursday night at 7:05 pm and a decisive game three (if necessary) on Friday, time to be announced.
