West Tisbury selectmen Jeffrey “Skipper” Manter and Richard Knabel approved three one-day beer and wine licenses at their meeting on Wednesday, August 7 — one for an art opening at the Grange Hall on August 10, one for a Dan Wolf for governor fundraiser at the Field Gallery on August 17, and one for a Lyme Center function on August 17 at the Grange Hall. Selectman Cynthia Mitchell did not attend the meeting.

In other business, Bea Phear told selectmen that the MV Donors Collaborative and the Dukes County Health Council’s healthy aging initiative has invited rural scholars from the University of Massachusetts Medical School to study the growing aged community on the Vineyard and make recommendations. The group will arrive on the Island for the 10-day demographic research project in October. There will be a public meeting at the end of October or early in November to discuss their findings and recommendations.
