Oak Bluffs harbor bragging rights and the Gilbert-Hammond Cup were on the line Wednesday night at Veterans Park, as Sand Bar and Grill played Coop de Ville in the Vineyard Football Association playoff final.
Make no mistake, Coop, the restaurant, is the undisputed hot spot for lovers of the beautiful game. On the pitch, however, Sand Bar and Grill finished the summer season on top. Sand Bar won the regular season title earlier this month and Wednesday added a 2-0 playoff final win to complete the league double.
Lee Pinheiro scored both goals for Sand Bar, one midway through the first half from a near bicycle kick and the other in the waning minutes on a penalty shot, following a reckless tackle in the box.
